STYLES OF PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY

At Kara Marie Collective, we offer a variety of photography styles from our different artists to cover all of our clients’ specific needs and aesthetics. We don’t expect our clients to know the lingo of the photo biz, so here’s a helpful breakdown of the two main types of product photography we offer, so that you can make an informed decision about what your exact needs are.

LIFESTYLE & PRODUCT PLACEMENT photography

Lifestyle and product placement photography provide extremely valuable and highly coveted content for any kind of business. These styles of photography feature your brand’s products in relevant settings to show your product in-use or in their “natural habitat”, and are ideal for social media and website use.

While styling is involved, lifestyle and product placement images are more natural and perform extremely well on social media and websites as they lend relatability to your brand. Simply put: it helps your audience and target demographic to envision themselves using your product and encourages engagement and sales. Our lifestyle product photographers will use an array of styling techniques suited to your preferences, and will polish your images with our standard retouch which includes color correction, the removal of distracting elements (dust/markings), and on-brand color processing. The finished collection of lifestyle and/or product placement images will be formatted for digital use only (high resolution/printing permissions may be purchased separately if needed), and sized for social media and website use.

COMMERCIAL product photography

Commercial product photography is offered exclusively by our commercial artist, Caitlin Leys, and is primarily focused around creating magazine-ready commercial grade images of your products.

What does this mean? It means an intense shoot production with extreme attention to detail, making sure every label is lit and sharpened to perfection, each image fully and expertly retouched, with every line perfectly straight and every detail planned and executed for magazine/billboard/commercial ad quality. A commercial shoot production takes significantly longer to plan, execute, and retouch than lifestyle/product placement images. While commercial images DO absolutely perform beautifully on social media, as well, the focus on a commercial product collection is QUALITY over QUANTITY for businesses that intend to represent themselves on a national or international scale.

In addition to the aesthetic differences between commercial and lifestyle product imagery, there is a difference in the deliverables. While our lifestyle and product-placement photos are delivered to our clients as web-resolution files exclusively for digital purposes, our commercial images are delivered in both web resolution and high resolution format, ready to print or submit for advertising purposes.
